[교육사회학(Sociology of Education)]
The Sociology of Education examines how educational phenomena interact with social structures and issues. From national demographic shifts and widening inequalities to AI-driven changes in learning labor, and everyday life, the field analyzses education within its broader social context.
At the institutional level, we study organizational culture, relationships, and power dynamics. At the classroom level, we explore curriculum, knowledge, and the social interactions between teachers and learners.
This field equips students with the tools to understand and improve the relationship between education, society, and policy. Graduates often work in government research institutes, education policy agencies, think tanks, universities, private research centers, CSR teams, and NGOs as analusts, consultants, and researchers.
교육사회학은 교육현상을 사회적 맥락과의 연관 속에서 이해하고 분석하는 학문이다. 교육사회학은 거시적 관점에서 사회·경제적 양극화, 교육과 돌봄 불평등, 인공지능(AI) 기술 확산으로 인한 교육과 노동시장의 변화, 개인의 고립과 관계윤리의 문제, 저출산과 고령화로 인한 인구구조 변화, 사교육 시장의 확대, 젠더·세대·계층 간 갈등, 기술 발전에 따른 가상세계에서의 교육과 학습 등 다양한 사회 문제들과 교육의 관련성을 간학문적 관점에서 분석한다. 한편 중시적 관점에서는 기관, 조직, 공동체에서의 물질구조, 관계구조, 문화, 행위자들 사이의 역학관계와 사람과 조직의 변화/재생산을 다룬다. 미시적 관점에서는 지식(교육과정)을 중심으로 교수자와 학습자 간의 사회적 관계, 지식의 문제를 탐구한다. 교육사회학은 사회 문제와 교육 현장 및 정책의 상호작용을 분석하고, 더 나은 교육과 사회를 위한 이론적 통찰력과 실천적·정책적 방향성을 제안하는 데 매우 유용하다. 이를 통해 졸업 이후 정부출연연구기관, 국책연구소, 교육 관련 공공기관, 정책연구원, 대학 강의 및 연구직, 민간 연구소 등에서 교육정책 분석 및 교육 컨설턴트, 사회조사분석가, 기업의 사회공헌(CSR) 담당자, 비영리기관(NGO) 전문가 등으로도 활동할 수 있다.
